Sri Lanka, however, have had some decent results in the shortest format of the game this year, having beaten South Africa and Australia in T20I series in home conditions and drawn the two-match series against Bangladesh.

India, on the other hand, had lost their last T20I against the West Indies in Jamaica. In terms of ranking, the gap between the two rivals is the not the narrowest in T20Is, with India currently placed at No. 5 while Lankans are at No. 8.

India, however, are cruising in fifth gear now. The Men in Blue are high on confidence with just about every player contributing handsomely against a Sri Lankan side that continues to struggle in the middle.
